Chuck the bucket list. The greatest adventure in life is not scaling Everest or swimming the English Channel. It is the courageous voyage of exploration sailing into uncharted ocean of the self. "Who am I?" is the question that begins the odyssey.

These thirteen poems and stories illustrate the author's own journey, exploring subjects from spring flowers to galaxies, death, and despair, sexuality, spring rain, family healing, and fallen rose petals upon a table.

Illustrated with the author's photography of the dragonfly, "Breaker of Illusions," this book lends valuable insight into the difficulties and joys of uncovering and gathering the authentic self.

Here's the author, me, reading two of the poems from the book, "Chrysalis" and "Runes". Enjoy!

Gathering the Self: Poems of the Heart is 7-1/2" x 9-1/2". 104 Pages, with black-and-white illustrations. Published 2018, Copyright by Skyboy Press.

Greatly enjoyed "Gathering the Self"

I have enjoyed your poems from time to time when I take a moment to sit and reflect on them.
I have most enjoyed The Runes.

A great book!

I thoroughly enjoyed your book of pommes. So many things about life I could relate to. I couldn't wait to turn the page to read the next one and some I read a few times. And some really touched me and tugged at my heart. This was a great book.

Wonderful even for a non-poetry lover!

I am happy to report that, though it took me a long time AND I had to do it in small increments, I finished reading the Baker's Dozen! Not being particularly drawn to poetry myself due to its challenging and sometimes cryptic nature, what I most appreciated (and enjoyed) were the accompanying narratives for each poem. For me, in addition to being a cheat sheet of sorts, these explanations were beautifully written and full of appreciable insight!

5 Stars, for sure.

"Gathering the Self A Baker's Dozen" was as layered as a croissant, honest as an apple and nourishing to my soul. Reading the copyright page made me laugh out loud. "Katydids" captured, put into words, the experience of the littler spirits of Mother Earth--all given such value! It is a gift from beginning to end and, being poetry, will change, evolve just like nature. I look forward to visiting this book often and recommend it to those who like poetry...and those who don't.
